To avoid confusion, please refrain from using the running anteater grad and/or Commencement logo in your communications. Both items are typically paired with official communications from the Commencement office.
The term Commencement is preferred when referring to this time of year or the ceremonies and events. Commencement is always capitalized. The preferred term for those participating is “grads” or “anteater grads” in order to distinguish the term from the Graduate Division.
In an effort to be inclusive, avoid the use of gender or the term “walk in your ceremony”; rather, anteaters, anteater grads or grads should be used to refer to those participating individuals. Additionally, anteater grads cross the stage during their ceremony or they participate in a ceremony.
Whenever possible, use uplifting and enthusiastic wording to help elevate and celebrate this joyful moment for our grads.
The UCI Commencement office only uses Instagram. Any other channel claiming to be UCI Commencement is a fake.
